A marin fisherman saved by his 406 Auto beacon

At eight from the coast of Penmarc’h, in Brittany, the Brocéliande, a 65 feet trawler sank on the 7th of June, apparently because of a ground swell.

When the trawler left the harbor, in the morning, the sea was calm with 20 nods wind. Some hours later, the ship capsized, and the skipper, alone on board, did not have time to call for help. Thanks to the automatic activation of the KANNAD 406 Auto the CROSS (Search And Rescue coordination center), was alerted, at around 11 o’clock. “The boat sank very quickly, as the semaphore, immediately warned by the CROSS, could not see any trawler”, explained Xavier Prud’hon, Maritime Department Administrator of the city. The rescuers came rapidly as the helicopter of the SAR authorities arrived some dozens of minutes later. The skipper, Florian Mourin, had time to board his dinghy.
