Russia – Missed sea landing

406 AF-Compact

On May, 1st, 2009, in St.-Petersburg, Russia, a Cessna aircraft Amphibian 182S missed its sea landing.

The plane was equipped with a Kannad 406AF-Compact ELT. The alert was transmitted very quickly and within very short time, the Search and Rescue coordination centre organized the intervention. The Kannad 406AF-Compact ELT continued to transmit the distress signal until it was switched off manually, that is to say during the three hours the plane was submerged.

Hopefully, all the people on board were safe.

The quality and reliability of KANNAD beacons improves personal safety, in the most severe environments.
