Bouvet Rames Guyane : Rémy Alnet activates his KANNAD beacon

KANNAD 406 Manual+ GPS

Rémy Alnet takes part in the second edition of the Bouvet Rames Guyane, transatlantic solo race where competitors have to row from Senegal to Guiana.

He is opening the cockpit door when a big wave floods totally into the inner part of the boat. Then the boat capsizes, does not right itself, and it is impossible to pump! Rémy Alnet is at 800km of the coasts when he activates his distress beacon.

11.42 AM on the 17th of April: the distress signal is detected by the FMCC (French Cospas-Sarsat mission control centre) in Toulouse (South of France).

Four cargo boats are contacted by the CROSS1.

The nearest is at 160 miles from Rémy, so he reroutes.

1.44 PM on the 18th of April: the “Astro Chloé” arrives where Rémy Alnet is and rescues him.

The time Rémy Alnet spent on his boat was very difficult, but hopefully, he had a

KANNAD 406 Manual+ GPS that allowed the SAR authorities to locate him and organize his rescue.
